The Eight Steps to Starting an IvyRiders Chapter
Step 1 - Visit the www.ivyriders.com web site and learn as much as possible about the organization. Contact the officers from the current IvyRiders Chapters to learn more about their operation. Download and read the Bylaws for IvyRiders Incorporated, which we have made available on our website.
Step 2 - Find a least three persons in your geographic area who meet the qualifications for IvyRiders and want to start a chapter. Contact IvyRiders for the names of person in your area who have previously expressed an interest in joining IvyRiders or starting a chapter in your area. Contact IvyRiders by sending an email to ivyriders@ivyriders.com.
Step 3 - Send an email to Larry Hall at lhall@ivyriders.com and request a copy of the Chapter Bylaws and the “Request to Initiate a Chapter” form letter. The Chapter Bylaws mirror the National Bylaws and the form letter serves as the formal notice to the IvyRiders Incorporated Board of Directors that you would like to start a Chapter.
Step 4 - The Board of Directors will vote on your request within 10 days of receiving your letter. Upon approval, the Board of Directors will issue a letter to you that will certify your Chapter. In addition, IvyRiders Incorporated will issue your Chapter Bylaws, establish your Chapter’s space on the www.ivyriders.com website, and send a welcome notice to all members.
Step 5 - Once you receive your certification letter and Bylaws, elect your Chapter officers. At this point you will now operate as a fully sanctioned Chapter of IvyRider Incorporated. The President of your Chapter holds a seat on the Board of Directors of IvyRiders Incorporated, and we encourage his/her active participation in board meetings.
Step 6 - Encourage the members in your Chapter to pay their annual dues as soon as possible so they receive their free IvyRiders patch and hat. Also, visit www.ivyriders.com for additional merchandise available for sale that you can use to support your Chapter’s activities.
Step 7 - Recruit additional members, conduct regular Chapter meetings, hold rides, send ride reports to our webmaster tjhart@ivyriders.com, pursue charitable endeavors, participate in the annual meeting of IvyRiders Incorporated, and publicize your activities.
Step 8 - Have fun!
